The following story may sound like me bragging about my intelligence but it is not, the story is completely true and I really feel this way. After this article you may look differently at me which is okay because I am not the average marijuana smoker. I have a reason, I have a story, and I want to share this story with you.

I grew up in a family that was able to pay for good schools and that made me able to get anything that I really wanted. Although this sounds like the perfect dream it definitely wasn’t, I shouldn’t complain really, because my life is a lot better than those of most people. I did not have to go through poverty, hunger or any other serious issues. All I used to worry about was if my mom made something nice for dinner and every morning I woke up trying to fake an illness so I didn’t have to go to school. This was when I was eight.

Living in the Netherlands we have a different school system than most of the school systems in the world. You have eight years of primary school, and then, if you choose to, six years of secondary school. If you do not want to do that last year you could always go for the five year plan. As expected from me I went to a very respectable school and I followed the highest level of education possible at my age. My parents were happy and I thought I was too. Although I wasn’t doing that well at school I felt like I was where I belonged. I felt like a school could really challenge me at an intellectual level. But apparently it could not. This sounds like I was getting really high grades and passing easily but I was not, because my brain is always working at it’s highest level I was constantly distracted by other things I found more interesting like music, movies, pictures and girls. I got low grades and I had to go to a different school.

The only thing I was always afraid of was dropping out of school and becoming a complete failure, I felt like I’ve reached that point. This was not a good time in my life but I did go to another school. This proved me wrong. Going to this school would change my life forever. At this school, the level of education was slightly lower than my previous school, which made me bring a laptop to school, and, you guessed it, gave even more distractions from working. Although I was not getting straight A’s my grades were actually really good. I really wondered why this was. Was the level of education so low that I didn’t even have to try? No, it was definitely not that, I was doing the same tests that I was doing the year before that but this time I was getting really high grades.

This was also the time of my life when I got interested in Internet marketing and Web development. Although I was not making a lot of money from it just yet I was definitely focused on it and spending most of my hours at school working on it. This meant, not a lot of time for my actual homework, or other things. I felt like I could finally use my mind 100% to work on something I loved but at the same time I still had to do my homework. So from 9 to 5 every day my head was racing and I was tired when I got home, this might have been the best time of my life.

That year ended and my grades were amazing to me. Not only did I not have to fear not passing, I was actually doing much better than most of the people in the class and I got accepted on a new school. Now I was stuck with a new problem, how the hell was I going to take my laptop to that new school, they did not allow this.

Especially the holidays I wasn’t feeling well, my head hurt all the time and my own thoughts were driving me crazy. At one point I even thought I was manically depressed. It wasn’t that, my mind’s just wanted more of me than I could give it. So I had to find a way to either use my brain 24 seven, or I have to find a way to slow it down. This is how I got into marijuana.

Lots of people told me to never smoke marijuana because they said I would get addicted to either marijuana or other drugs. For about 16 years I believed them and I did not try any drugs. But now things were different, after I spoke to my girlfriend about my problem she told me I should look into using marijuana to slow my mind down temporarily. This was the strangest thing I ever heard because she was very anti-drugs and I wasn’t about to get addicted. I asked some more people, excluding my parents, if it was really a smart idea to try. Some of my friends, mostly 17-year-olds, told me I could at least try and that I would not get addicted on my first puff. My older friends all told me that I should just go see a doctor and get some prescription pills, I did not want to do that, I did not want to make this a big issue, I did not feel that important.

Looking back at my situation I’m glad I did not do this. I am way better off right now than I would have ever been using prescription drugs, or at least that’s how I feel about it.

I went to an 18-year-old friend of mine and asked him if he wanted to try weed with me, apparently he was already smoking weed which led me to believe that he knew what was good for me. So on a cold summer night, because I do still live in the Netherlands, we went out to the beach with half a gram of not-so-strong weed. I took a couple of puffs to find out what effect it would have on my body and mind. It had none, at least not instantly, so I took a little more. This proved to be a bad decision, but I do not in any way regret it. After about half an hour of sitting there, waiting for the weed to kick in, my mind slowly started slowing down, my body was way less reactive, and I was starting to feel much better about myself. The now so familiar feeling of getting high kicked in, it was amazing, but kind of scary because I did take a little too much for a beginner.

As a friend of mine once told me, you should never smoke weed without having music with you, if you are not experienced smoker. I’m glad he told me this, because the music made me feel even better. Not only was my brain working at a normal speed, I was so focused on the music that I did not even feel my surroundings. I was not cold anymore. I was not afraid anymore. For the first time in a while I actually felt free, happy, and relaxed.

I went on smoking much more that holiday and I’m even growing my own plans now. Some people tell me I am addicted to drugs. I am not, but the feeling I get when my mind slows down and I can finally be at peace with myself might be the best feeling I’ve ever had. Medical marijuana has proven to take away pains, and now marijuana has proven to take away mine. I am glad that I live in a country where marijuana is so available. I am also glad that my friends and even my parents are so supportive of me and are not trying to get me off of the drugs, because they know me, and because they trust me. They have realized that I do not need these drugs because they are drugs, they have realized that doing this, relatively safe, drug has made me happier in life and has given me a better chance to cope with stress and any other issues that are thrown my way. As I said earlier in the article I do not have many issues but this one was definitely depressing me. All I want to hear from you is the answer to the following question: if someone, who has a serious problem with feeling depressed, can get mental rest, can feel free, and feel able to achieve anything he wants without being stopped by his annoying brain by using a drug that is relatively safe and is not, as many people called for, a gateway drug? You know my answer but I want to know yours. Is it fair that people out there with serious problems cannot get the medicine they require to handle their issues, be more productive, and feel better?

I hope this article can make even one person think twice, not about using marijuana, but about understanding that some people need marijuana. Not because they are addicted to drugs, but because they want to feel like normal people. And I hope that this one person will grant these people that feeling. Medi-Cone is distributed and sold throughout the state of California. The company pays taxes on all income generated and this is a great example of how the market place for cannabis will change as cannabis becomes legal in other states.

May dealt with some very nice customs agents and he explained the mix-up. May says, “The customs agents said they knew I didn’t mean to smuggle drugs into Guam cause no drug smuggler would be stupid enough to walk up to the dogs and pet them.”

Last week TV “scientists” from the BBC show Bang Goes the Theory tested a boat constructed of Pykrete hemp-ice in the warm waters of Portsmouth Harbor, England. Steadily melting, it sank after only an hour in the water, forcing hosts to evacuate ship.

Bang Goes the Theory attempted to recreate the design ideas of 1940s inventor Geoffrey Pike, who originally conceptualized the Pykrete vessel as a cost-effective option for use in the frigid Atlantic Ocean.
