Just goes to show, where weeds legal to grow, it’s quite possible theres so much of it, people might keep their greedy fingers to themselves and let some nice cannabis fully flower and mature in front of a Walgreens pharmacy.

There’s a giant marijuana plant that looks has been planted in front of the Walgreens at Spear and Mission. Looks like it was planted guerilla-style, and there were a couple people around with little digital cameras. Not sure what the deal is. The plant is very aromatic.

Research into the skincare role of cannabis-like ingredient suggests the idea that marijuana cleanses the body and psyche may be more than just a pipe dream.

Does Cannabis hold the special cure to skin cancer? I came across some interesting information back in 2008.

Researchers from Hungary, Germany and the UK say the human body produces compounds that resemble the active ingredient in marijuana, THC.

The body produces cannabinoids for protection.

Not only are they similar but they also play an important role in the maintenance of good looking skin.

“Just as THC is believed to protect the marijuana plant from pathogens, our own cannabinoids may be necessary for us to maintain healthy skin,” said researcher Gerald Weissmann.

The study into the properties of “endocannabinoids” will be published in the October issue of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASB) journal.

Endocannabinoids regulate lipid production

The team of scientists said “endocannabinoids” are important in regulating lipid production and may therefore be useful in the management of problems such as acne and dry skin that are associated with sebaceous gland dysfunction.

They hailed the paper as the first evidence that human sebocytes use an endogenous cannabinoid signaling system for the control of lipid production and death.

“Our preclinical data encourage one to explore whether endocannabinoid system-acting agents can be exploited in the management of common skin disorders,” said Tamás Biró, a senior scientist involved in the research. “It is also suggested that these agents can be efficiently applied locally to the skin in the form of a cream.”

Cannabis has already made its mark in the cosmetics industry especially as the natural and organic markets light up.

Oil derived from the hemp plant is increasingly being used for its moisturizing properties in creams, cosmetics and deodorants.

Big natural players such as Burt’s Bees in the US and Neal’s Yard Remedies in the UK have both launched products containing hemp seed oil over the past year.

Crappy Pot via National Institute of Marijuana Project (the only government supported Marijuana research facility in the United States)

Fox Memphis goes to the National Institute of Marijuana Project and tours their ‘grow-op’. The doctor running the place notes that

- On street level pricing of the government’s pot: “[the price] depends…  if people know it’s coming from here… very expensive.” and he knows this how? His pot is ground up into shake with gigantic twigs sticking out of it.  I’m actually more interested in the pot they’ve confiscated from growers around the US. Those zipped up bags look like they hold the best pot around.. Not the limp nugs growin’ in the Mississippi research facility *gag*. . .

The good doctor also goes on to flash a picture of himself holding a THC suppository created by none other than.. himself. Which further mentioned is not very popular in the United States.. He can take that shit and stick it up his own ass.

Wonder why nothing good has ever come out of this government run research facility? Because as the doctor says himself, “If everyone can grow it nobody will need this place anymore. It will put us out of business.” Hopefully it’ll be legal before those THC suppositories are. Add this to the list of yearly wasted tax dollars . . expenses enforcing the marijuana prohibition.
